An Antique Pair of French Louis XIV Mutton Bone Chairs with Upholstery of 18th C. Tapestry Fragments (due to the upholstery being made from fragments, details are dissimilar. One chair has a skirt border while the other does not. In our opinion, the colors and details indicate all the fragments were from the same tapestry.) – Good Antique Condition – Walnut chair frames are circa 1900’s; Tapestry Fragments are circa 1700’s.
These exquisite Louis XIV style chairs, upholstered in tapestry fragments from the 1700’s or earlier, are in the tones of teal, gold, cream, and pale rose. The fragments are attached to the frame with brass nailheads. The walnut wood chair frames have Louis XIV mutton bone legs (pieds a os de mouton) with H- shaped stretchers.
