Pair: Antique Continental Porcelain Cachepot Planters
Description: Pair: Antique Continental Gilt & Enameled Porcelain Cachepot Planters, Early 20th C. Probably France. The front of each cachepot is decorated with different transfer printed scenes of two figures in 18th C. dress standing between hand painted/enameled sap green trees/bushes on a light blue ground. The top and base rims are heightened with black and gold bands. The base of each piece features a small draining hole. The pieces are not visibly signed or marked. Dimensions: Each: 6-3/4" High, 7" Diameter. Total Weight: 4.12lbs. Condition: The entire base of one planter has been broken-off (about 1-1/2" up from the base) and repaired/re-glued (there are some small surface chips/flakes and glue residue along the edges of the crack). There is some scratching/dirt/wear/staining to the surface along the interior of each piece (due to use as a planter). There is a small hairline crack along the side of one planter measuring 1-1/2" long. There is some light scratching/wear to the transfer printed, gilt and enameled pattern along the surface and edges of each piece. Otherwise, the pieces are in fair condition.
