Description:
PAIR of Coalport Armorial Mythological Dinner Plates, c. 1805 England. Pair of Coalport porcelain dinner plates painted in the Regency period neo-classical style. Armorial crest in the center of both, and beautiful imagery of Greek gods around the periphery: Artemis, Athena, & Ares, among others. Perhaps decorated by Thomas Baxter, or at Mortlock's studios, both in London.Made by the John Rose & Co. Coalport factory around 1805, another service in this pattern is the "Star of the Garter" service for the Royal Family, that service is today located at Buckingham Palace. Ref: Image 31, "Coalport & Coalbrookdale Porcelains" by G. Godden. Excellent Antique condition, with no chips, cracks, or known restoration. Only very slight wear to either gilding of painting.
