Description:
This is a rare and unusual Pair of Antique Chinese Teapots in orange, or iron red, monochromatic color palette, with floral reserves. The modeling, painting, and glaze of these teapots are masterfully done. Both sides of each teapot consist of gilded scalloped central reserves with white backgrounds decorated with flowers in sage green, willow green, sky blue, plum, light yellow, and rose. The rectangular lids are inset, with gilded loop handles. The interiors are glazed in white, except for the edges where the lids join into the pots. The undersides, or bases, are unglazed. Dimensions (in inches- each): 4.4 H X 7.6 L X 2.7 W. Weight: 2 Lbs., 11 Oz. for the pair. The date is circa 1835, early mid 19th Century. Condition: For the most part, the Teapots are in very good condition, with no chips or cracks. One teapot has two ¼ inch surface dark spots; one on the top, one on the handle. There have been minor professional restorations and over painting to minor chips to the edges and spouts. These conditions corrected under the supervision of the Seller. Sold as is, as described.
