Painted Antique Corner Cabinet Made From a Louis XIV Period Boiserie Door H=71 1/8, W=47 ¾, D=28 An Antique Painted French Louis XIV Door from a Boiserie (Wooden Paneled Room) Converted at some Point in its History into a French Corner Cabinet. – Front Door is Period Louis XIV (1643-1715) Sides and Back are from a Later Period.– Good Antique Condition Commensurate with Age. This wonderful antique painted French corner cabinet has a front door that was once part of a period Louis XIV boiserie or wooden paneled room. Wooden paneled rooms were used in chateaux and palaces to give warmth visually and for room temperature warmth as added insulation from the stone walls. The painted Louis XIV motifs are mythological creatures, scrolling rinceau, shells, c and s-scrolls, ribbons and flowers. The colors are tones of the much sought after pale greens, ochres, blues and grays. The interior has been lined with material at some point in its history.
