Description: Early gilt front banjo clock signed "Warranted by William Cummens", [1768-1834, Boston]. Cummens was one of Simon Willard's most famous apprentices. Extremely rare gilt front, early Stage I banjo clock with original Aurora lower glass. Mechanics all original and in fine working order. Dial has no overpaint, and signature is light but all there [see photo]. Original finely cut steel barbed hands. Original lower "Aurora" glass has evidence of lifting at the edges but all the chariot work is in fine condition. Circa 1810. Measures approx. 33" in height.
Status: For Sale Reference#: 3112
Condition: All mechanics original, in working order. Throat glass retored circa 1900. Original lower glass and dial glass. Year: Circa 1810.
