AN ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING OF A PARIS STREETSCAPE WITH CORNER CAFE A lovely original framed oil painting of an ordinary day and typical scene on a Paris street. Historically, it seems every great artist wanted to test and refine his skills by setting up an easel on a Paris street and painting the scene before him to develop his artistic techniques. The streets are filled with pedestrians out for a stroll, shopping or coffee. This attractive painting was done in a neo-impressionistic style, the brushstrokes catching the multi-hued light reflecting off the trees, streets and buildings. The colors flow beautifully into each other. The pedestrians are dressed in bright, fashionable colors and outfits of the day as they walk down the streets. The ubiquitous street cafe, internally lit, stands on a corner with a tree to the viewer's right and beckons the passersby to drop in for a cup of coffee and some patisserie. The artist has signed this work at the lower left, 'D. Memory'. The painting is in excellent condition, and is bordered by a wide grooved wooden frame with a fabric inner mat and thin wood inner moulding strip. The frame has minor wear due to age. This work was done circa the 1960's, and has a sticker on the reverse attesting to the fact that this is indeed an original work by a professional painter. Dimensions are 26.5" wide by 22.5" high.
