Description:
Vintage sterling silver cuff by Orb (Otto Robert Bade). Measures about 1 1/2 inches wide, opening in back is about 1 inch wide. Has a wonderful patinae. This cuff does have its share of light surface scratches, otherwise it is in excellent condition. I did not try to buff out the surface scratches. I am selling it 'as is'. Some collectors like it as is(original), others like it buffed out, so I am not touching it.
This piece is marked Orb in script and STERLING in block underneath on the reverse side.
Dates to approximately the 1950s. Shipping is $4.50 for priority, insured.
"Orb"was founded by Otto Robert Bade in the 1950s in New Hope, Pennsylvania. He served as Rebajes' foreman in the 1940s and 50s and purchased Rebajes' designs and machinery before Rebajes moved to Spain. From the Collectible Silver Jewelry Book by Frank Rezazadeh. More information regarding Orb can also be found in the Modernist Jewelry Book, 1930-1960, The Wearable Art Movement by Marbeth Schon. Two great books for any modernist collector!
