Description:
R. Brown’s original chalk pastel drawing entitled, “Lazy Cat” is a charming portrait of exactly that, a lazy tabby cat. The tired cat peers out of the composition, almost annoyed, at the viewer with its eyes half-closed. Brown rendered the cat with amazing attention to detail, specifically its thick fur. The rich oranges of the tabby’s coat have subtle variations in tints and shades giving it a higher level of realism. The can lounges atop a green pillow which compliments the deep oranges of the cat’s fur. The drawing is double matted in a deep burnt orange bottom mat which echoes the orange of the tabby and a cream candlelight top mat that pulls out the lighter tones within the composition. The piece is mounted in a medium oak wood frame with black accent lines and measures “17”x 20” in total. The unique matting and framing presentation of this piece was individually selected and created by Le Chateau’s renowned master framer, Jeanette Shoenrock, and bears her signature on the back. This is truly a charming and modestly priced original pastel drawing.
