Description: This may be the nicest Seamaster Chronometer (circa 1956) we have ever seen! It's all original and in mint condition and what a handsome piece it is! We even have the original box, and the band is sporting the original buckle too! The pristine case is stainless steel measuring 33mm wide by 40mm in length and is a three piece design with a waterproof o-ring sealed pressure fit back. There are absolutely no signs of wear on the case back. It is the 24 jewel automatic movement that makes this THE watch to have and wear on a daily basis. It is one of Omega's Chronometer rated, officially certified, high quality, timepieces that has received a certificate of accuracy from the Swiss COSC. Founded in its current structure in 1973, the COSC ("Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres") is the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute. It is a non-profit organization. The COSC was founded by five watchmaking cantons (states) of Switzerland: Bern, Geneva, Neuchâtel, Solothurn and Vaud, together with the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FHS). It encompasses the laboratories/observatories that had been created independently of each other from the late 19th century onward. Presently, three laboratories do the actual testing of the movements submitted by individual watch manufacturers to be granted the official chronometer status, located in Biel/Bienne, Geneva & Le Locle. Obviously this is exemplary of Omega's precision for their best watches, but more importantly this is a great watch to display on your wrist and look at every day. The black dial makes a wonderful contrast against the beautiful and rugged stainless steel case. What really sets this off, stylistically, is the red sweep second hand that chronicles the passing seconds with each beat of this 24 jewel masterpiece. The black dial is all original and in beautiful condition displaying applied stainless steel markers and the Omega logo, marked "Swiss Made" at the bottom. Notice how nice the rose gold finished (an Omega trademark) movement, Calibre #505 is. This rose gold finish is designed to resist rust and oxidation for 100 years. The movement is a special chronometer grade, self winding automatic, highly jeweled (24), adjusted to 5 positions and temperature, extremely fast beat (19,600 BPH), micro-adjustment timing regulator, and specially protected against shock and vibration. We have added our best hand made crocodile band to provide the icing on the cake. This watch was well cared for over the years and, with regular maintenance, has many lifetimes of service yet to give. Our one year, parts and labor warranty assures that you will have a guaranteed and fully restored timepiece for generations to come!
