Description: Sterling silver sauce boat made by Omar Ramsden and Alwyn Carr, London, 1911.
Measures a tad under 5 1/2inches long and 2 inches high.
Oval base with clear signs of gentle hand hammering. Slightly elongated, elegantly curved bowl, the sides curling over, widening towards the middle. Understated and sophisticated.
Marks and hallmarks as follows: Engraved underneath parallel to the oval perimeter: OMAR RAMSDEN ET ALWYN CARR ME FECERVNT. On the side, beneath the curled rim:maker's mark RN & CR (Ramsden and Carr); lion passant, leopard head, date letter q. The form of the hallmarks date the piece to 1911.
Good condition. No damage/restoration.
