The vase has a primitive-style grayish-brown finish. The texture is both rough and smooth. On the underside is a paper label with the words(in typescript): "Olivier Roy" and "Vallauris Exhibi [sic]."Olivier Roy (b. 1942) belonged to the younger generation of artists, who worked in Vallauris, which was an influential pottery center after World War II.
