Description: Oil painting on panel by W.M.Mitchell (1881-1955) a recognized Canadian artist.Mitchell painted primarily in watercolor but in this instance he chose the oil medium.The scene depicted representes a view from the summit of Mount Royal looking south across the river towards Mont St.Hiliare and beyond.In the foreground can be seen a portion of the city and its buildings.Mitchell was also known for carving and painting the frames for his works.Signed lower left "W Mitchell".See "A Dictionary of Canadian Artists" by Colin S.
