Description: Here is a wonderful slant front desk with beveled mirror, secretary and two door bookcase. The piece is adorned with much acanthus leaf carving on the top and super coils of acantus leaves on the slant front lid. The top shelf can be used as an open book shelf. The mirror is the original beveled mirror. The desk area is loaded with cubby holes, drawers and a great writing surface. The desk slant front is fantastically carved with acanthus leaves...this is not applied carving...but carving into the solid oak front. The style and quality of the carving is attributable to N.Y. maker R J Horner however no label is on the piece..The bottom section is a 2 glass door bookcase. This piece was made about 1890 , has a great Victorian era look and is quality made thruout in solid , quartersawn oak. This piece has been refinished and is in excellent condition. A wonderful and hard to find antique
