Description:
This quarter sawn oak chair is referred to as a Morris chair because of its ability to adjust the back. Morris chairs were fore runners to our modern recliner. This is a more sophisticated version than normal because of its push button activation. There is a metal button located on the side of the chair. When it is pushed, the tall back will recline in many positions. It will also automatically return to its upright position if desired. The chair obviously needs recovering and the cushions need replacing. Any upholsterer would be capable. Notice the uniquely carved designs under the wide rolled arm supports. The back is gently shaped to cradle the cushion and to provide comfortable support. The seat has metal springs to comfortably and strongly support the seat cushion. There are 4 large casters, which work smoothly. There is another unique feature. The fabric covering the bottom section between the front of the legs actually pulls out and becomes a footrest - very cool. This chair was made by l the Royal Chair Co. of Sturgis Michigan. It is extremely well made and is designed to accommodate people of all sizes. The chair is very comfortable - perfect for reading or relaxing. The finish appears original and is in very good condition. The frame is tight with no breaks. Here is a chair to relax in
