DJ and cover are in fine condition.----- Publisher: Farrar, Straus & Cudahy (1960) Language: English----- Tom Dooley (his father was called Thomas) was a Naval doctor, a humanitarian and an author. He was also suspected of being a CIA agent, accused of being homosexual and given the Congressional Gold Medal posthumously by JFK. There was a press for his canonization which never happened. His nick name was the "Jungle Doctor"--- Many believe that his efforts in the Vietnam and Laos in part inspired the idea of the Peace Corp. We many never know but JFK did mention his work at the launch of the Peace Corp.---- "The Night They Burned the Mountain" was his third book. He wrote about MEDICO's (a medical relief program) founding and his struggle against cancer while helping the sick in Laos.---
