Description:
Offered for sale is an intricately carved Han Dynasty figure. Carved of a green nephrite jade with traces of mineral deposits (iron?) throughout, this figure dates to the Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD). A cord hole has been drilled through the figure's headdress, and there is an orange bead holding the current cord in place. The figure may represent a court figure in a ceremonial robe, or possibly a female. The robe has a balanced "patchwork" design which is carried around its body and echoed on the back of its collar. Its hands are clasped around its waist, and it is standing squarely on two well defined feet. This figure measures 2 3/8" High by 7/8" Wide and 3/4" Deep, and it weighs 42 grams (1.48 ounces).
