Description: Native American Indian beaded picture frame, dated 1911. Rare animal theme.
Length is 10" excluding the fringe and 12 inches including the fringe at the bottom. Approx 7 3/4inches accross widest point.
Oval center with honey gold glass bead and golden sequin border.
The cloth background is sewn with raised florettes of roses and budding foliage. Surrounding the coral bead date - 1911 - is a pair of cats / monkeys with raised green backs. Above these are small scurrying wild animals or beavers/ otters ? in clear and golden beads with tiny black eyes and red noses.
Edges with old transparent beads that are slightly iridised due to their age.
Condition is very good considering the age and delicacy of the item. The loop for hanging the frame from, on top is missing. There are a few weak points in the beading - eg bottom left corner and bottom left of inner circle.
