Otherwise in excellent condition, with no overpainting visible under u.v light. Artist's Biography: Nancy Sussman Ranson (1905-?) American. Born in New York City, and listed as having lived in Brooklyn, Ranson was a painter and serigrapher. She studied at the Pratt Institute Art School, (certificate); New York School of Fine & Applied Art; the Art Students' League; Brooklyn Museum of Art School; also with Alexander Brook; Robert Laurent & Jean Charlot; Brook. Ranson exhibited at the American Watercolor Society in 1940, 1942-43; National Association of Women Artists, 1943-46, 1956 (Medal of Honor in Graphics); Brooklyn Society of Artists, 1941-46; Tomorrow's Masterpieces" Exhibition, 1943; Long Island Art Festival,1946; Argent Gallery; Feragil Gallery; Critics Choice Show, Grand Central Galleries, New York, 1946; Whitney Museum of American Art, 1951; National Exhibition of Contemporary Artists US, Pomona, California, 1956; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, 1957; Color Prints of Americas, New Jersey State Museum, 1970; American Society of Contemporary Artists, 1970 (first prize in graphics). Awards: MacDowell Foundation fellowship, 1964. The artist was a member of the Brooklyn Artist's Society; New York Society of Women Artists (vice-president, 1968-69); American Society of Contemporary Artists (president, 1969-71); National Association of Women Artists (chairman for exhibitions, 1963-67; chairman of admission, 1969-71); Audubon Artists (director, graphics, 1970-73); and the American Color Print Society. Ronson's work is in the collections of the Fogg Museum of Art, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts; Museum of the City of New York; Philadelphia Free Library; National Art Gallery New South Wales, Sydney, Australia; National Museum of Modern Art, New Delhi, India.
