Description:
A tile by Mueller Mosaic is always a joy. Every time I have one I have to say that this is my favorite tile company. Their glazing and modeling rival the more well known Grueby and Rookwood companies. This handsome tile bears a highly dimensional torch, very much like the one from the Statue of Liberty. This is enhanced by the speckled blue background and the emerald green raised frame. The condition is excellent with a shallow flake on the back edge, and appears to have never been installed. The back bears the hand incised numbers 9734. Measuring nearly 7 1/2 inches square and 1 inch thick, it is a wonderful arts and crafts example. Mueller Mosaic tiles are almost never marked, but can be identified by their spectacular glazes. This design is also pictured in one of their catalogs.
