Description: Silver and parcel-gilt cigarette case, retailed by Morozov the court supplier. St Petersburg 1908-17. Silversmith IP. Trompe l’oeil simulating wood, gilt inside, lid applied with the imperial double-headed eagle, blue cabochon thumbpiece. Width 10 cm. Some provenance: The ingraving on the inside of the case says it is a gift from empress Maria Feodorovna on a journey to Finland in august 1914. To D.Pallas Helsinki station”. This presentation cigarette case has belonged to Dimitri Pallas (born 1879 Kexholm - died 1947 Helsinki). 1914 Mr Pallas was station vice director of Helsinki Trainstation.
