Hawkes was a decorating company that purchased glassware from many different companies and then decorated it with fancy cuttings or etchings. This pretty piece is Morgantown's #37 shaped jug. It was sold to Hawkes who did the cutting and then sold it. The pitcher is in Excellent Condition without chips, cracks, or mold damage. This lovely jug really is in great shape--- the only reason for the excellent status is that there is some fine scratching on the bottom of the foot from use. This jug is signed with the Hawkes symbol. Hawkes was in business from 1880 until 1962. This pitcher was made sometime during this period. I would guess from the 1930s to the 50s by the shape of the jug.
