Description:
Here is quite an interesting piece of world famous Moorcroft pottery. What is interesting about this piece is the color – it is in an almost burnt umber orange in a ginger jar style with a removable lid. On the bottom it has an impressed mark of Moorcroft Burslem with the numbers 762 also on the bottom is an applied paper label with a W Moorcroft signature in pen underneath of that the label is printed hand made pottery with a space for a number – I suspect that it is very rare to find a hand signed label of W Moorcroft. The jar is in excellent condition although I see a slight hair line crack in the lid - it is visible only on the outside. The overall piece has a slight metallic glaze. This ginger jar measures 5 ¾”h and the diameter of the base is 3”. Nice art pottery from the arts & crafts era.
