That's all there is to it! Welcome! We have for sale an elegant old oil on porcelain miniature portrait painting of a woman who looks to be French nobility of the 18th century, as she is wearing a powdered wig decorated with a silk scarf, feathers and a trail of pearls represented in moriage style dots. A sausage curl trails from the back of her neck around to the front, framed by a high, stand-up back collar. The likeness seems almost photographic, with incredible detail to the eyes, nose and mouth. She wears a slightly mysterious expression, with focused blue eyes and rosy or rouged cheeks. This miniature portrait is unsigned and very skillfully done. It appears to be a Victorian era work with an eighteenth century subject. The frame is a round flexible brass tone metal with black velvet inner channel. The old cardboard and leatherette backing has come loose from the frame and there is deterioration to the backing, but the round porcelain itself measures 2 1/2 inches in diameter and is in very good condition. The only flaw to the painting is a tiny, 1/8 inch narrow surface scratch to the paint on the left of the mouth. A lovely, elegant portrait miniature in delicate colors. Buy it now!
