Description:
We've never passed up an opportunity to buy one of these delightful miniature lantern clocks by SMITH'S ENGLISH CLOCKS. They were a copy of the rare English lantern clocks of the 1700's and always seem to find an eager audience of buyers when we list one. This one has a very strong running mechanism that keeps good time and runs for a week between windings. The bell top doesn't sound the hours and is simply for eye appeal. The brass dial has a lovely engraved design and the top front and side decorations are in the form of a dolphin or whale and surrounded by fancy scrollwork (see close-up photograph). Inside the back door the movement includes the name of the maker on both the back plate of the mechanism as well as the inside panel of the door. We've priced this one very reasonably and the buyer even gets some dust from my personal desk where the clock has been running ever since I purchased it some time ago.
