Description: A mid-19C Continental ivory dress cane, showing a boy's face with curls and wearing a tri-cornered hat, the face carved in high relief out of an ivory ball and having latticed silver chasing, probably added later in America. Rosewood shaft and horn ferule. The tri-cornered hat may have been a Napoleonic touch, added by the photographer or at the parents' insistence. Overall length: 353/4".
