Description:
Michel Arnoux French 1833-1877 Michel Arnoux was born in Paris in 1883 and was a pupil of Edward Frere, Dansaert and Cogniet. He worked in Ecouen along side his fellow artists, painting narrative scenes of domestic genre. He exhibited at the Salon in Paris 1864-1877. His domestic interiors invariably included children and were painted with great sensitivity, creating the atmosphere of warmth and tranquility. His keen observation and interpretation of the characters of his subjects, often at play, in the schoolroom or with the family at home, allowed him to produce charming scenes of rustic harmony. He favoured painting on panel and often on a small scale in pairs.
