Description:
Lovely Old Mexican Oval Talavara Platter. It is signed on the back T. Ruth Mex. It measures 14" x 11" and it is heavy made from red clay that is painted and fired. The piece is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks, but it is hand crafted so there are the usual rough surface and some uneven glaze. The variations and "imperfections" add to the beauty of it and make each piece unique.
The style of pottery is called talavera and is from the central region of Mexico mainly the states of Puebla, Hidalgo and Guanajuato.
