Description:
Lovely Old Mexican Oval Talavara Platter. It is signed on the back T.R. Mex. It measures 14" x 11" and it is heavy made from red clay that is painted and fired. The condition is good. It does have a chip under that rim as pointed out in the picture. . The rest is fine but it is hand crafted so there are the usual rough surface and some uneven glaze. The variations and "imperfections" add to the beauty of it and make each piece unique.
The style of pottery is called talavera and is from the central region of Mexico mainly the states of Puebla, Hidalgo and Guanajuato.
