Description: Antique German beer stein made by Vellroy and Boch/Mettlach - the most famous beer stein manufacturer. Made of pottery in PUG (print under glaze) technique unique to Mettlach. The stein depicts a medieval couple with some saying in German that I was unable to translate. Excellent condition - absolutely pristine, a collector's dream. Marked with Mettlach mark from the period (see "The Mettlach Book" by G.Kirsner), mold number 1526 with decoration number 591. The date stamp is 1892. 6" tall, 0.5L capacity.
