Description:
This beautiful stein was produced by Villeroy and Boch in Mettlach in around 1902. The stein is made in shape of a barrel - this is one of very few Mettlach steins that could qualify as "character" steins. The body of the stein is made of marble stoneware - a unique material that was used by V&B in Mettlach around 1860 - 1870. But some of the model made of marble stoneware survide till early 1900s. This is alaso one of a very few models that was produced since 1860s to early 1900s - for 40 years!. The lid is pewter with the word "Prosit!" ("Cheers!") in relief. The stein is in excellent flawless condition, it is 6" tall, 0.5L capacity
