Description: Here is a five drawer spool cabinet made about 1880 by the Merrick Co. There are not decals remaining on the cabinet...so I have compared its structure to spool cabinets in the "MOM and POP Stores " book to determine the maker. The cabinet has been refinished on the outside only. The case has also been reglued. All five drawers are in very good condition with dividers. The drawer fronts have incised cuts parallelling the drawer pulls. The drawer pulls are solid , turned walnut. All the drawers have been assembled using wooden pin to hold the drawer sides to the drawer front. This a great piece of country store americana.
