Description: Signed Meissen porcelain desk set, consisting of a fitted tray with two inkwells, in the Blue Onion pattern. Made in Germany.
Tray measures 9 1/2 inches long.
Tray has curly walled borders. Two modelled enclosures for holding the inkwells securely and preventing them from sliding. Round, somewhat pumpkin-shaped inwells somewhat concave on top with round lids in the center. The whole surface of the tray and inkwells is covered with the famous Blue Onion Pattern, in a particularly pretty version. Unusually, the front of the tray has the crossed swords incorporated into the pattern.
Besides the crossed swords on top of the tray, in the actual pattern (see 'photos), each piece has the Meissen blue crossed swords under the glaze. There is also a small mark in blue underglaze and impressed numerals.
