Description: Pretty birdcage with mechanical songbird automaton, possibly made by Griesbaum, in Germany.

Two birds sweetly sing when you wind up the cage. One is red and sits on the perch, the other is yellow. Their beaks, heads and tails move as they trill.

The cage has plain and twisted wire with hanging ring at top. The base has three (3) feet and Greek rosette appliques all around. All brass.

The keywind and control are underneath with settings for ON, OFF and PAUSE (the birds take turns singing intermittently) as shown in photo. Possibly made by Griesbaum, in Germany. No other markings found.

Measures about 12 inches tall, 6 inches wide.

CONDITION -
Mechanism in good working order. The birds move and sing. The birds have lost some feathers over the years.

Brass in very good condition. There is some very minor pitting and a very small ding or two.

Circa early-mid 20th C.
