Beautiful still life pastel/charcoal by Marion Huse. Pitcher with blue bowl of fruit. A very unusual painting for Marion Huse as many of her pieces are landscapes, genres or portraits. A Springfield MA native we settled the estate of a student of Ms Huses and she owned some of her original works. This loveley pastel or gouache has been rematted with a blue acid free mat board. The image itself is approx 10x16". Signed in the lower right corner Marion Huse. Marion Huse is a listed artist b1896-1967 , she is listed in fieldings, Mallets, who's who of american artists and was a student of Hawthorne, Connah and Hubbell. After her passing a memorial exhibition was held at the George Walter Vincent Smith Musuem in Springfield. Ms Huse was well known as an artist and teacher in many different styles throughout her career. A very important artist, teacher and director for the WPA during the depression. A great book was put out about Ms Huse and her art by the Brockton art museum.
