Description:
This is a very handsome Black Marble Mantle Clock. We purchased it in London, England. It is in working condition. The Clock is made of Black and Sienna Marble. It has an interesting provenance. There is a Metal Plaque at the front stating “Presented to Mr. John W. Saundry by the Penzance Westhavan Mission Workers on the occasion of his marriage, December 11th 1900. The Clock is made in Portico Style with the greater portion being of Black Marble while the columns are a gorgeous, swirling Raw Sienna Marble. The Clock has a scalloping, pronounced Pediment. The Columns support it. The Clock face has a White Enamel Chapter Ring with a brass interior. on the Chapter Ring are Fancy Numerals in black. There is a single Key Hole on the lower, central location of the Brass Face. It winds the movement. The Base of the Clock flairs outward and is pronounced. The Plaque is attached at an angle in the center. This was a very fine wedding gift. It would have been quite an impressive gift to have received in Victorian times. Mr. Saundry must have been quite important. The Clock is in working order. If you are a collector of Victorian time pieces, this one is quite fine. It would look gorgeous in a gentleman’s study. WE HAVE MANY MORE PHOTOS OF THIS CLOCK. pLEASE CONTACT US AND WE WILL BE HAPPY TO SEND THEM TO YOU. :)
