One of the many books from the Estate of Francis P. Fretwell that we will be selling. The library is the largest privately owned collection of dog books in the world. Mr. Fretwell was the owner of Monfret Kennels, which bred champion standard poodles. He was former president and governor of the Poodle Club of America, and the Italian Greyhound Club of America. He also served as a delegate to the American Kennel Club for decades. His wonderful collection of books has been carefully maintained. *** Old Manor Houses. By Cecil Aldin. London: William Heinemann, Ltd., 1923. 1st ed. 4to., 109p., taupe illustrated dust jacket with blue lettering, grey cloth with blue lettering and gilt decoration, illustrated in color throughout, with full page and text drawings. Hardly doggie but a proper and worthy part of the Aldin collection, with dogs appearing in many of the illustrations. Nice clean copy, rare in dust jacket. Jacket has a few small losses. Boards and interior clean and bright. Mr. Fretwell's bp on front fixed endpaper. VG+.
