Description: This Malacca cane is inscribed James Varney 1751 on the handle around the ring near the shaft, (see pic. 2). The handle is brass with a foliate design all over. It's diameter is 1 1/4". The cane also has a hole through the shaft with eyelets to attach a decorative wrist cord for ease of carrying on horseback. The ferrule is 3 1/2" long. The cane shows normal wear of an item this old.
