Description:
This wonderful Carlton House desk is made of mahogany with satinwood inlay. It is from the late 19th century and is in very good condition for its age. The piece is beautifully decorated with urn, floral, ribbon and line inlays and a brass gallery and hardware. The back of the desk is finished and inlaid as well, so this works great as a free-standing piece. The base has five storage drawers and tall tapered legs with brass capped feet. The superstructure has the brass gallery and several storage areas. Overall the desk is in very good condition with a couple of minor infractions. There are a couple of small veneer chips and there is a keyhole escutheon missing from the center drawer, which is typical for a piece this age. The two rear legs are missing the brass caps.
