Description:
This elegant mahogany Hepplewhite sideboard was made by the respected Williams-Kimp Furniture Co., Grand Rapids, Mich. The server has a satinwood line inlay along the top and a narrow inlaid pattern along the outside edge as well. The large center drawer has a rectangular and elliptical line inlaid pattern on the front. The side drawer fronts are shaped to follow the contours of the top. Line inlays are repeated on their fronts. Inside each small drawer are lined with divided compartments for storage. All the drawers have their original brass oval brasses. Below the drawers are 2 center doors with another door on either side. Check out the dramatic flame mahogany graining on all 4 doors. Notice the elliptical inlay to the right and left of the center doors creating a harmonious design. All the doors have diamond shaped ebony inlays for key escutcheons. All the locks are intact and working. Each door front has an inlaid rectangular pattern with canted corners. Notice how the inside of the doors repeat the flame mahogany - an unnecessary, yet beautiful feature. Behind each door is a single shelf. The sideboard rests on tall tapered legs highlighted with more line inlay. The top of the sideboard was refinished due to poor condition. The rest of the buffet retains its original finish. The color is deep and rich. The simplicity in form and the subtleness in details make this sideboard a knockout!
