Description:
This handsome custom mahogany corner cupboard has some wonderful detailing. The cornice has a delicate applied dentil moulding. A unique feature is that the entire surface has dramatic burled and flamed mahogany graining. The cabinet is comprised of 2 separate pieces for ease in transporting. The complicated grill pattern on the doors is actually individual pieces of glass rather than a fake grill on one large pane of glass. This is a true sign of quality and cabinet making skills. The glass doors retain their original cast brass Chippendale style key escutcheon with working lock and key. Inside are 2 shapely shelves with double plate grooves. Someone later painted the inside antique white, which can remain this color or you choose your own. The corner cupboard base has 3 beaded front drawers. The center drawer is hand dovetailed. The other 2 are false or faux drawers. Each has their original cast brass knobs. Below are 2 recessed paneled doors having their original cast brass key escutcheons and working lock. Inside is a single shelf, which was also painted the same antique white. The cabinet rests on tall Chippendale ogee bracket feet. The finish appears original and is in excellent condition having a deep rich color and patina. This cupboard will require each wall to be 31" wide.
