Super nice American Classical Chest of drawers .One of the great things about this chest is that is so petite. This chest is made in the manor of Anthony Quervelle of Philadelphia .Dating from about 1820.The case is pine & the Veneer is a very exciting figured mahogany with a glorious untouched rich surface patina.The top drawer has a carved out square reserve with black lacquer background & a gilt bronze classical mount of a female portrait head .The second & third drawer fronts have a super architectural recessed arch. Side columns with carved & gold gilt capitals & at the bottom a gilt bronze collar. The front animal paw feet are very bold with crisp carving & gold gilding. The chest is in very good original as found condition .Measuring 35 ¾” High x 36 ½” Wide x 20”Deep.The top drawer front is an amazing 1 1/8” thick & the center drawer is 10 ¾” Deep. It is so rare & exciting to find a small chest of drawers of this age & magnitude these days .
