Description: This is a remarkable sterling silver centerpiece bowl by the premier American silversmiths at Tiffany & Co. in a fantastic Rococo Revival design. This ovoid bowl is supported on six bracket feet with paw and scroll decoration and a footring encircled with chased scroll and flower decoration. This massive bowl has a wide undecorated field with bowl has a deep interior with a very wide, everted rim. The sides are elaborately decorated with deeply chased scrolls and flowers and roses that are realistically formed. At intervals scrolls form cartouches that enclose pierced lattice-work designs of flowers that complement pierced scrolls surrounding large rose blooms. The rim is beautifully decorated with dynamic scrolls and flowers, along with berry clusters and sheaths of wheat. The decoration is truly skillful and combines matte and stippled textures. Like all of Tiffany's work this bowl is heavy gauge silver and has been expertly crafted. This large bowl measures approx. 5 3/4" high 21" long, and 18 " wide, and weighs approx. XX troy ounces. It is marked under the base with the mark of Tiffany & Co., the words Makers, Sterling Silver, pattern number 11357, order number 935, and the letter T for its founder Charles L. Tiffany, used from 1891-1902. This gorgeous antique silver centerpiece bowl is a striking example of Tiffany's phenomenal designs from the late nineteenth century. A truly collectible piece of silver in a rare and elegant design! It weighs 120 troy ounces.
