MAGNIFICENT HERTS BROTHER BEDROOM SUITE plus seating Stunning Victorian Mahogany complete twin bed bedroom suite by Herts Brother, 4th Quarter 19th Century, NYC, and signed in many places, Herts Brothers, Broadway & 20 St. N. Features include two impressive twin beds, a high mirrored back chest, a mirrored back dresser, and a night stand. All share very ornate inlays of brass, copper, and Mother of Pearl. The Chest and Dresser have very impressive double panels on the sides and all five pieces share the same fine bead work and scroll carvings. The original beveled mirros show small amounts of siler loss. The beds come with the original bed slats. Herts Brothers were well know NYC cabinet makers and won awards at the Chicago World's Fair. One critic stated that, "The Herts Brothers, at Broadway & Twentieth St., were acknowledged leaders in this County in artistic designing and furniture making". The Herts Brothers were well known for their furnishings being used in such famous Hotels as The Woodward, The Knickerbocker, and the St. Regis as well as other wealthy clients like William Astor. The Herts Brothers, NYC were listed as one of the biggest losers in the fire of 1877 along with A. Roux, George Huntzinger, and Pierre Hardy. Presented in beautifully restored condition and retains all original multi color knobs and drawr pulls. We have noted that two escutcheons are replacements. This addition is a fine match to the wonderful bedroom suite and the sitting furniture shares the same Mahogany and extensive inlays. The three pieces include a fine settee with chair back ends joined by a finely carved center section, a highly decorated arm chair, and equally decorated side chair.
