Description: 1/6th plate daguerreotype of wide eyed mother and her baby. It certainly had to be a great challenge for the daguerreian photographer to capture this baby while awake. There is something almost sinister about the way the mother glares. Though it was probaley the rough child birth that caused this tired and sickly stare.
