Description: This is an exquisite group of carved wood statues (I think Lime wood however I feel the Madonna & child is a little too heavy for Lime). There is a beautiful patina on all three and in normal light they are much darker than in the photos. They were made by an Austrian Master Carver called Ludwig Kastner. There is an old ink stamp on the base of the Madonna with his name on it and the rest is indecipherable. They are in perfect condition. The detail in the workman ship is superb. just look at the faces. Both angels are playing musical instruments (Harp & Mandola) and both sets of wings were carved out of seperate pieces of wood them expertly attached. The Madonna & Child Blessed Virgin Mary and Infant Jesus mesures 10.25 inches high and the angels or cherubs are 6 inches each. questions offers and additional picture requests welcome.
