Description:
34" blade, gilded brass knuckle bow and pommel, leather and brass wire wrapped handle. Blade is polished with etched military motifs. Metal scabbard is plated with gilded brass bands and carrying rings. This being a second type Springfield Cavalry Officer's Saber lends credence that General Thomas H. Ruger would have used this sword while being commander of the Montana Territory from 1876-1885. (See Kellerstedt, 1998: 25).
