Description: The Luba are a tribe of over 1 million extending over the entire southeast region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Their art is considered some of the finest in west and central Africa. Among the favorite themes of their carvings are women, often holding their breasts such as the one on this Luba headrest. This is seen throuout much of west African art.
