Description:
Masterpiece Louis XV / XVI French Empire bouillotte table lamp.
Antique-finished, lost-wax casted bronze and brass, hand chased and hand chiseled, with hand-wrought, hand-painted tole shade.
Approximate dimensions: 32.5" tall x 12.5" wide.
Please note: the photography lights make the lamp appear much brighter and shinier than it actually is.
We are the only source in North America for museum-level quality, handmade, entirely custom-made, and custom-designed, Bouillotte lamps from France and Italy. These lamps are all exclusive to us and are only available through us. This particular lamp was made by our master craftsmen in Italy. Our lamps from France, which are also exclusive to us, are made by the same family that still makes the lighting for Versailles.
It is my strong contention that these are the finest new bouillotte lamps available today. I will hold them up against any other new, museum-level quality, hand-crafted bouillotte, in particular those coming out of the high-end design market in New York, especially lamps from C.N., M.A., J.R, V.L., M.E.D., and C.L. (If you're in this market for this type of lighting, you may know whose these initials are; if you don't, which is completely understandable, please email me and I will gladly provide you the names.) Moreover, because these lamps are made for us, by our craftsmen—and because we choose not to have a showroom at the D & D or on Lexington—our lamps are significantly less expensive than those from the above-mentioned dealers.
So there is no confusion, the lamp being auctioned here is a NEW LAMP; however, it was crafted with the same materials, methods, techniques, and traditions as its antique counterpart.
