Description:
This elegant cabinet created in the manner of Andre Charles Boulle (1642 - 1732) is a classic example of the master's work from 1672 - 1732. Boulle became a master before 1666, but in 1672 was granted the royal privilege of lodgings in the galleries du Lourve. That same year he also received a warrant signed by the Queen, giving him the added title of ‘bronzier’ as well as ‘ebeniste’, and maintained both of these titles throughout his life. This commanding Bahut features an ebony black case in a satin finish with five magnificent Boulle frontal inlays. The entire piece is then further highlighted with exquisite brass Ormolu trim. The top, fashioned from a solid slab of polished black marble graciously assists in bringing out the majesty of the Boulle and subtle finish of the case. Boulle pieces are not readily seen on the market and the appeal of this piece will be instantly recognized to those who appreciate the master's designs.
